Thanks for tuning in to the third edition of tracking my spending habits! You can read about my second month here.

Revenue

  • Work: $5,131.48
  • Side Hustles: $1,107.79
  • IRS: $94.00
  • Interest: $0.19

Total: $6,333.46

April was one of those rare months where I received three paychecks. This gave me a nice little boost to my earnings.

I had a great month for my side hustles, finally passing the $1,000 mark!

My state tax refund came in as well.

Expenses

  • Rent: $954.25
  • Travel & Vacation: $693.89
  • Healthcare: $575.09
  • Home: $426.09
  • Entertainment: $324.74
  • Groceries: $285.34
  • Restaurants: $97.89
  • Transportation: $67.28
  • Bars: $44.47
  • Subscriptions: $41.40
  • Utilities: $37.71
  • Clothing: $22.05
  • Donations: $10.00
  • Total: $3,580.20

Overall, I spent 56.54% of my income.

I seem to be spending more and more each month. Last month I spent $2,792.74. This month I spent $787.46 more

Most of that excess spending can be attributed to the vacation I just booked. I’m going to Miami in June for the first time. Let me know what I should do and where I should go!

I finally bought some new glasses which were over $400. I’ve had the same pair for probably 3–4 years now, so this was needed.

I bought a $250 dresser for my apartment but still need a couch. Hopefully I can get around to that this month. That’s gonna be a dent in my pocket.

I bought $200 binoculars. This was kind of an impulse buy, but so far I’m enjoying them. I have a rooftop at my apartment so it’s great to use up there to look at the moon and lake.

I went out with friends a lot more this month. The weather has been great in Chicago and we’ve been going to restaurants and bars. Naturally, I’ve spent more on food, drinks, and transportation. I expect this trend to continue into the summer, but definitely something I’ll need to monitor.

I accomplished one of my goals from last month. My March utility bill was $112.35, and I managed to bring it down to $37.71 this month. All I did was turn off my heat full time and lights when I left my apartment. We’ll see how much the A/C bill is this summer.

Net Profit

  • Cash: $813.78
  • Bitcoin: $700.00
  • Ethereum: $647.75
  • Basic Attention Token: $304.04
  • Uniswap: $287.69
  • Total: $2,753.26

I saved 43.47% of my income.

I put 70.44% of my excess cash into crypto. This is on par with what I want to do each month.

I bought the same cryptocurrencies as I did last month, completely unintentionally. I did allocate differently though.

Bitcoin had a rough April, which meant it was the perfect time to buy! This was my largest position this month.

I am very bullish on Ethereum for this summer. It has already surpassed $3,000 per Ether and I expect even greater upside as we enter July and August.

This rundown is mostly for me so I can make sure I’m not recklessly spending my money, but I appreciate anyone who made it this far! See you next month!
