Spending Habits: Month 4
Thanks for tuning in to the fourth edition of tracking my spending habits! You can read about my third month here.
Revenue
- Work: $3,420.83
- Poker: $706.26
- NFTs: $345.00
- Medium: $4.20
- Interest: $0.03
- Stocks: $4,517.06
Total: $8,993.38
I did a lot of liquidating this month.
I sold some NBA Topshot moments and converted that into USDC.
I also sold my entire brokerage portfolio. My stocks finally vested after a year so now I only owe long-term capital gains on the profits.
I had a plan for the extra capital I amassed this month. Stick till the end to see the results.
I’m also close to making enough on Medium to pay for my subscription. This will be a goal of mine in the coming months.
Expenses
- Rent: $954.25
- Home: $459.85
- Healthcare: $399.38
- Groceries: $267.26
- Restaurants: $243.62
- Clothing: $139.45
- Travel & Vacation: $76.00
- Subscriptions: $41.68
- Entertainment: $28.64
- Bars & Nightlife: $24.00
- Utilities: $23.50
- Transportation: $15.00
Total: $2,672.63
Overall, I spent 29.72% of my income. However, this is heavily deflated due to selling my stock investments.
Last month I spent $3,580.20. This month I spent $907.57 less. I’m back on track with my spending norms from earlier this year.
My big purchase this month was a sofa on Amazon. This was much overdue, and now I’m pretty content with my apartment.
I bought some new clothes for the summer. Specifically some new sunglasses from Warby Parker.
I did go out to eat much more than usual. Restaurants and bars are pretty much fully opened up so I anticipate spending more on food and drinks this summer.
Lastly, I started a podcast with one of my college friends. Feel free to check it out on Spotify.
Net Profit
- Cash: $1,210.36
- Ethereum: $3,686.00
- Matic: $1,024.89
- Bitcoin: $399.50
Total: $6,320.75
I put 80.85% of my excess cash into crypto. Probably a bit more than I aim for but I took advantage of the massive dip that crypto is currently having.
I am extremely bullish on ETH and Matic. I started yield farming on Matic and it has been such an enlightening experience. Yield farming is basically a boosted savings account using Decentralized Finance Dapps. Your yield can be anywhere between 5%-100% APY. I think I’ll write an article about how to do it because it is pretty complicated.
I’ve also put a lot of ETH into Zed.Run which is a digital horse racing game. You can read more about that here.
This rundown is mostly for me so I can make sure I’m not recklessly spending my money, but I appreciate anyone who made it this far! See you next month!
